Breezin'Unplugged

About Us

Whole Lotta Live!

Breezin'Unplugged began December 2005, on two barstools at a notorious pub in a notorious section of a notorius town. Talk about friends in low places. Rob & Eric had performed for seventeen years in the original Breezin', Western Massachusett's most sought-after wedding & club band. Breezin' retired in January, 2000, and Eric & Rob hadn't seen each other in five years. Neither had aged, nor matured.

That day they got together at the above-mentioned roadhouse for their "Yearly Beerly," they mutually bemoaned the fact that people no longer seemed to possess the basic cognitive tools to discriminate between live music and canned music. They also attributed the proliferation of musical "knockoffs"--impersonators--to this intellectual and emotional endullment. They decided to do something positive about it.

They ordered another round.

For the sheer joy of it, they decided to meet once a week and rehearse. Performing in public was not necessicarily the goal. Eric volunteered his rec room, replete with computer, sound system, refrigerator, & bottle opener. And away they went.

They agreed that they would not "cover" any music. That is, they would not perform a piece unless it had a truly special meaning or personal story associated with it. And, a few hundred pieces later, that's what they've done. Although the name indicates that they are "unplugged," this is a lie. Their art is electric, as well as acoustic.

Breezin'Unplugged performs classic, powerful pop, powerfully. Period.

As a unique stream of consciousness and emotion, this pop/rock music stands on its own. Rob & Eric channel the indelible talents and vision of the young men and women who wrote this incredibly optimistic body of music, in the face of the historic tumult evidenced in the late 20th Century.

The Breezin'Unplugged  performance is always a concert. People sit and listen intently, or spontaneously dance on tabletops. Rob & Eric are not wallflowers, to be stuck in a corner. They demand attention.  As a duo, Breezin' Unplugged has been accused of sounding like a 6-piece group, although no one has been able to make the charge stick. Confidence is not one of their problems.

Rob & Eric are exceptionally strong vocalists. In this setting, Rob performs on Hofner bass guitars. One of them the 1963, 500/1 design, is fretless. You might hear a harmonica from time to time, as well as a classic Ovation 6 string. Eric performs on beautiful, top-of-the-line Takimine guitars--both 6 string, and 12 string. He also performs on a classic Rickenbacker electric 12 string, and a funky little uke. They can add jazz/pop piano and acordian to the mix as well, if they get sufficiently imbursed or inspired to do it.

As was the original Breezin' with Duckie & Flamin' Jahn, Breezin'Unplugged is known for inviting members of the audience up to perform. It's not unusual to experience an egalitarian complement of tamborines, hand drums, shakers, etc. while the boys are performing. Everyone gets into the act.

Breezin'Unplugged excels in a pub setting. They are frequently booked for private parties as well--weddings, receptions, house parties, etc.--since they are additionally cost-effective as a duo. They are good--and good for you.

(They can even provide recorded dance music and flashing lights on their breaks for parties, but it makes them hurl.)

Breezin'Unplugged will never perform along with pre-recorded music, and imitate only themselves. No cornball retrospectives. No faux, no foul. It's our quality committment to you.

Right on! Read on...
